An E85 conversion adapts a petrol engine’s calibration to a fuel containing a much higher proportion of ethanol than conventional petrol. It is not simply a request for more power: the fuel system must deliver a substantially greater volume while cold starting and mixture control must remain reliable.
Why E85 needs more fuel
Ethanol contains less energy per litre than petrol. To release the required energy, the engine must inject more fuel. Pump capacity, injector flow and available injection time therefore become central to feasibility.
If those components reach their limit, software cannot create missing physical capacity.
Cold starting and seasonal variation
E85 composition varies with season and region. Ethanol also vaporises differently in cold conditions. A usable conversion must take starting, warm-up and mixture correction into account, not only full-load operation.
How compatibility is checked

Some vehicles can support a combined performance and E85 calibration; others require hardware changes or are not suitable.
