    Stage names describe the level of a tuning project, but they are not an international technical standard. The useful question is not simply which Stage sounds best. It is what hardware the vehicle has, what result is expected and how that configuration will be validated.

    Stage 1: the original mechanical configuration

    A Stage 1 is generally a calibration developed for a healthy vehicle that retains its standard engine hardware. Torque, boost, fuelling, ignition and associated limits are adjusted within a target suited to that engine and transmission.

    The exact result depends on the engine, ECU, fuel and vehicle condition. A Stage 1 is not the same file applied blindly to every version carrying the same badge.

    Stage 2: calibration matched to documented upgrades

    A Stage 2 takes specific mechanical changes into account. Depending on the vehicle, this may concern the intake, charge cooling or exhaust flow. The term alone does not tell us what has actually been fitted.

    Before preparing the file, Swaptune needs a precise list of modifications. Compatible hardware, correct installation and appropriate maintenance remain essential. Legal requirements for road use must also be checked in the country concerned.

    Stage 3: a developed project, not a catalogue upgrade

    Stage 3 usually refers to a substantially modified setup: a different turbocharger, upgraded fuelling, internal engine work or a combination of these. At this level, the project is no longer defined by a simple product name.

    It requires hardware sizing, measurements, iterative calibration and specialist supervision. We generally direct these projects to a development centre equipped for that work rather than presenting them as a routine network service.

    Why the same Stage can produce different figures

    Two engines with similar factory power can have different turbochargers, injectors, transmissions, software or thermal limits. Fuel quality and climate also matter. A credible target starts with identification, not with a generic percentage.

    Which Stage should you choose?

    Choose the level that matches the vehicle as it actually exists. If it is mechanically standard, Stage 1 is normally the logical route. If hardware has changed, document every component and ask whether the complete setup is suitable. A higher Stage number is not automatically a better choice.

    Does Stage 1 require mechanical modifications?

    No. Stage labels vary, and the complete list of modifications matters more than one part.

    Can a Stage 3 be ordered like a normal file?
